Enriching The Tribal School Education

Intro

Co-creating a model for tribal schools to build an appreciation of local knowledge and impart skillset for livelihood

The school drop out rate of students in tribal belts of India remains dismal. Moreover, those managing to successfully complete higher education find it difficult to navigate their future. Further many of the youth would prefer to peruse their careers locally rather than move to urban India. However rural economies often do not offer enough livelihood or entrepreneurship opportunities for the local youth.

The Impact consulting at Mindtree.org has partnered with a State Government, non-profits and academia to co-create a curriculum for engaging children studying in tribal schools. The objective is to progressively handhold children, starting from building appreciation for the rich local culture, to imparting the requisite knowledge and skill sets for taking up livelihood and entrepreneurship opportunities in agriculture and allied industries.
